Converting to Decimal Fractions 1

The conversion of fractions in rational form to decimal fractions depends on rewriting the rational fractions into fractions with denominators in powers of 10. There are 3 cases which are summarized below. 

Type A 

We can see the general rule that the decimal fraction should contain as many places as the number of 0s in the denominator. If the number of digits in the numerator is less than the number of 0s in the denominator, necessary 0s need to be added immediately after the decimal point.

Type B

We find an equivalent fraction where the denominator becomes 10 or a power of 10. Then it can be easily converted as per methods we have already seen.
