THIS IS NOT A YOGA GROUP; IT IS A YOGA GROUP!
The Upholland U3A “Meditation” Activity Group is a relatively new Group whose
Sessions are held at The Common Room, The Dell, Upholland WN8 0AJ - The
Sessions are held at The Dell, twice monthly, on the First and Third Thursday of
every month, between 19.00-21.00 hrs.
The approach to Meditation in the Sessions is based on the Group Leader’s
knowledge and experience of practicing and teaching Yoga for over 40years.
However, the Session Activities do not involve the teaching and performance of
“typical Hatha Yoga Postures (asanas)” that some people may be familiar with. It is
not a “Yoga Exercise Group”. The Session focuses on the teaching and practice of
other Yoga “activities” that are complementary to the “posture activities” approach.
The focus of the Sessions is a varied mix of: Very Gentle “Chair” yoga (as a
preliminary to moving on to Relaxation); followed by guided Relaxation; and then a
combination, after a break, of Breathing (Pranayama) exercises; Concentration
exercises; Visualisation exercises together with any appropriate Philosophy
underpinning the approaches involved.
Each Session is charged at £2.00/person/Session payable by cash at the Session.
Tea, Coffee and “decent” biscuits will be provided, midway through the Session
utilising the venue kitchen area located adjacent to the Common Room. Toilets are
located adjacent to the common Room. Members are asked to kindly respect the
high quality of the venue and return the areas after the Session to as you found
them.
If you wish to carry out Relaxation, Breathing Exercises, Concentration or
Visualisation exercises whilst laying on the floor, please bring a suitable mat, and
other necessary aids for your comfort, with you to the Session. Practice can be
carried out whilst sat, laying down – whatever is most comfortable.
