Social Activities

By default, the group is open to all members and their non-member partners. Additionally, the holidays are open to friends of members, but are not promoted outside the U3A.

We organise occasional social events, day trips and longer holidays both local and abroad in addition to those organised by individual interest groups.

The group started on 15th November 2007 with a quiz night and buffet supper. Since then, we have hosted Burns Nights, Murder Mysterys, Race Nights, Barn Dances and cabaret evenings, as well as more quizzes.

We started running holidays in 2010 with a trip to Lake Garda and the Verona Amphitheatre for a performance of Aida.

Since then we have visited many popular locations in Italy, Spain and Germany, with excursions to local places of interest, including wineries. More recently, we have alternated long weekend visits to The Royal Albert Hall and the Thursford Christmas Spectacular in the run-up to Christmas.

We are always open to suggestions for social evenings and holidays.
