Criteria:

PA

Distal radius and ulna, carpals and proximal half of metacarpals

No rotation of carpals, metacarpals or radius

Soft tissue and bony trabeculation

No excessive flexion to overlap and obscure metacarpals with digits

Oblique

See 45-degree rotation

Slight interosseous space between 3rd, 4th, & 5th metacarpal bodies

Slight overlap of distal radius & ulna

Trapezium & distal half of scaphoid without superimposition

Open trapeziotrapezoid & scaphotrapezial joints space

Lateral

Superimposed distal radius & ulna

Superimposed metacarpals
