Most of femur & joint nearest injury

Femoral neck not foreshortened on proximal femur

Lesser trochanter not seen beyond medial border of femur, or only a small part seen

No rotation on distal femur

Any orthopedic appliance in its entirety

Lateral

¾ of femur and adjacent joint

If needed, use 2 IRs to show entire femur

Any orthopedic appliance in its entirely
