This page contains all ground station information for ArcticSat. The ground station design will remain the same with Iris CubeSat mission for ArcticSat. For more general ground station information, see Iris ground station design page.
Key requirements directly relevant to the ground station are as follows:
R-ARC-MIS-005: The mission shall be co-developed with Inuit communities, particularly those directly impacted by this project.
R-ARC-MIS-009: The mission shall be capable of transmitting data to Chesterfield Inlet.
R-ARC-MIS-010: The mission shall adhere to all applicable regulatory policies and guidelines.
R-ARC-MIS-012: The mission shall provide Chesterfield Inlet control of the satellite.
R-ARC-GND-002: The ground team shall provide the science team with payload data during the mission lifetime.
R-ARC-GND-013: Ground stations shall be accessible remotely from Chesterfield Inlet
R-ARC-GND-017: The ground station shall disseminate payload data to the SIKU network automatically within TBD minutes of payload data arrival.
R-ARC-GND-018: The ground station shall be co-developed with Inuit communities, particularly those directly impacted by this project.
See Valispace for more information on requirements.
It can be seen from these requirements that a focus on interfacing with Inuit communities is a key aspect of the ArcticSat ground station that was not part of the Iris project. All other requirements presented are similar to those for the Iris ground station, including requirements relating to regulatory approval for operations.
