UNIVERS Project
On 7 January 2020 the University of Ruse hosted a meeting for establishing a consortium for a European Universities project proposal. The partners come from 7 countries and include the following 8 universities: University of Perpignan (France), University of Ruse (Bulgaria), University of Girona (Spain), University of Lleida (Spain), University of Craiova (Romania), Technical University at Chemnitz (Germany), Bialystok University of Technology (Poland) and Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Latvia).

On May 15-17, 2019, the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest hosted a Grand Challenges Scholars Program workshop which:
Inspired universities in the region to establish Grand Challenges Scholars Programs
Created connections between institutions interested in establishing the program
Supported the exchange and cooperation among the global GCSP community
Clarified the value of Grand Challenges Scholars to industry by engaging both regional industry and multinational corporations interested in engineering education and workforce development
To achieve these goals, the NAE and University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest managed to convene rectors, deans, administrators, faculty, current students, GCSP alumni, government representatives, aligned NGOs, and employers from throughout the region to discuss the importance of preparing the next generation of engineering leaders to meet the global challenges of the 21st century.

As one of the Danubius Young Scientist Award Winners for 2018 Tzvetelin Gueorguiev was invited to visit the JRC Research Infrastructure, including laboratories such as: the Environmental Observatory (Air Quality Tower), the Nanobiotechnology laboratory, the European Microwave Signature Laboratory (EMSL), the European Solar Test Installation (ESTI), etc.
A special day was devoted to individual shadowing of a JRC Scientist in the scientific area relevant to the award winner.
