The TXHSWS wants everyone to stay safe and healthy as they grow in skills and knowledge. Our events have special protocols in place that meet/exceed the State and Local requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Registed Students will have the opportunity to earn an additional AWS D9.1 Welding Certificaion with FCAW in the 2F Position. There is no additional fee for the event and students who have not not earned their AWS D9.1, 2F, FCAW Certification  will have the chance to at the Andrew Noppe Memorial Event!

IMPORTANT INFO: 

All Welding Levels will allow chipping hammers and wire brushes. In addition to that Levels 1 will allow battery powered grinders with wire wheels, and Levels 2,3&4 will allow grinders with wire wheels and grinding disks for light grinding needs.

Rules  - Plans

IMPORTANT INFO: Bring all the tools needed to cut, measure, mark, fit, grind, weld, etc to complete the build. The only thing you will be provided the day of the event is: Square Tubing: 4 - 10ft sticks of 1"x1"x10ga & 2 - 10ft sticks of 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 10gaElectrodes: 1/8" and 3/32" E7018 The Build Plans for the Gate.

Build Off Teams will be keeping their gates after the event so please make arrangements to take back to school after the event!

Cutting Contest 

Registered Students will compete All-Tex cutting challenge.  Challenge will be timed and evaluated for accuracy.

IMPORTANT: Each individual needs bring their own their own PPE this includes, clear/dark face shield, safety glasses and gloves that are to be worn at all times while in the cutting area. 


*All Students that register for a welding certification level are automatically entered for compete in the Cutting Contest Challenge.

Quiz and Tool ID Event

Registered Students are eligible to take the Tool ID and Safety Knowledge Test. This event consists of Identifying 25 tools form the Tool List below and answering 50 question (T/F & Multiple Choice) from the Safety Study Guide Below.

Top 10 winners will be recognized.

*All Students that register for a welding certification level are automatically entered for compete in the Tool ID and Safety Knowledge Test.

Underwater Welding 

The Ocean Corp 

Students with the best under water weld passes will have the opportunity to earn a Dive Coin that will qualify them for the Underwater Welding and Diving State Event this summer at The Ocean Corp in Houston. 

At the State event students will compete for TOC Scholarships and prizes as well as the opportunity to earn an AWS D3.6 Welding Certification.

THE 2021 WET WELDING CHALLENGE IS SET FOR JUNE 12TH!!
