In order to prepare and engage students with my journey through the Taiwanese education system, I gave them a series of interactive reflections through Google Forms.
First, I asked students to prepare questions that they would like to ask to the Taiwanese students and teachers.
Students were overall curious about the daily life of students in Taiwan, and what the "feel" of their country was like. Cuisine and school structure were also common questions.
As for what students wanted to share about their own lives, cuisine and class schedules came into play once more. I was glad that I polled my students in order to get this information from them, as I was able to get information from the Taiwanese students I spoke to. In one unique exchange of information, I shared that my students like baseball and fishing, and learned from the Taiwanese students usually fish for shrimp in local rivers and restaurants.

I also made sure to engage my students with the blog I was updating, and answered their questions regularly. This gave students the ability to really engage with another culture and travel experience in a way that "brought" them to the country with me.
Travelling during the school year gave me the unique opportunity to engage students in a meaningful exchange of questions and answers.
