Inter-School Activity

The essential question for this Inter-School Activity was: How can students leverage their text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections to understand irony? 

Videos were exchanged between the two classes on two separate occasions. Students had an additional two class periods to create their responses to these videos. Students created a video response that contained three components: 1) An introduction to their school/community, 2) Text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections, 3) An engaging question for the other class to answer.   

 The students were excited to see what the other class had created and to respond to them. A recommendation if you are going to try this would be allowing students a more direct and open line of communication with the other class, since they were so eager to talk. Ultimately, the 6th and 8th grade students had many similarities in their demeanor and excitement in the videos. They are more alike than different!
