Technological process or project approach method is understood as the set of stages or ordered phases involved in the development of a technological solution to a problem or need.
In short is a work method, used to achieve an objective. The method consist in following a series of stages ordered.
The project approach is a way to face problems. This process is used for every technology project, and is the same that human being has followed and the one currently used for designing technological products or solve problems.
Project approach consists of a series of steps defined in order:
Problem:
It consists of identifying and analysing the problem or need. In this stage the problem is defined in detail and clearly.
Set the initial conditions needed to acomplish.
Search for information:
Once the problem has been defined, next step is look for information, in different sources can be internet, books, specialized magazines, catalogues, ask people of our environment, direct observation of similar objects, etc. With this information you can generate ideas and clarify concepts about materials to use, manufacturing techniques and shape of the object, study similar products etc. Searching for information in different sources.
Search for possible solutions:
The information gathered can produce different possibilities of solving the problem. In this step, all the options studied are evaluated, the solution that meets all the initial conditions is chosen.
Chosen solution:
In this step the reasons why we have chosen that option is specified. Based on the established priority criteria: shape, material, for its cost, for its appearance, etc.
Design:
During this stage, is needed do sketches, diagrams or plans of our chosen solution. First by freehand, include more detail later. In the design of the solution all the knowledge you have about drawing, materials, structures, mechanisms, and electronics.
Planning:
Planning consists of organizing tasks in an orderly manner, indicating for each member of the group who will make it, the tools and budgets of materials to use and the stages that need to be followed.
It is therefore necessary to take into account the number of people in the group, the distribution of times and acquisition of necessary materials and tools. For proper planning it is advisable to fill in a document called "Process Sheet".
This is the stage where the group build, assemble and finish the parts and make an object. At this stage, we use the tools and materials descrpted and adquired before.
Tihs is the evaluation after construction, the object is tested. Check if the product works, evaluate the aesthetics, and if necessary propose changes and improvemets.
Quality control consists of subjecting the constructed object or system to various tests to check that it works and that it responds adequately to the problem definition.
Presentation.
At this moment the work is presented to another people, for sharing ideas.
All these steps are turned into documents that are linked together, so that they can be consulted or followed by others. At the end of the process, we will file them all in a document named Project report.
