Q: How many characters can I have?
A: While there is no set limit for how many characters a person can make, you may be temporarily prohibited from making more than 5 characters if you have already made some and have not used them in a RP. Always make sure that you use all of your characters!
Q: What species can I use for my character?
A: You can use any of the species listed in Tilia's Bestiary. If you want to make a character but their race is not listed, ask a mod whether the Bestiary can be updated to include that race.
Q: When can I make stronger characters?
A: In order to avoid godmodding, we ask that members do not make excessively strong characters right away. Once you reach the role of Journeyman and have had a few RP sessions, you can ask the staff team about making stronger/more influential characters.
Q: Can I be in the server if I am under 16?
A: No. The only exception for the age rule in Tilia is whether a member has been in the server before that rule was instilled and has gained seniority through numerous RPs already. Any new members under the age of 16 will be kicked.
Q: What are the other requirements for being in the server?
A: The expectation is that all members are able to take part in literate RP. If the quality of your replies in RP cannot match that, you may receive a warning. We ask that all members submit a RP sample of their writing to gain access to the entirety of the server.
Q: To what extent can I add to the lore of the world?
A: Members are permitted to write lore about different factions, minor religions, sects, towns and some cities, tribes, etc.. Any player lore that would interfere or change the history or magic systems of Tilia is not permitted.
Q: What is one-lining? Is it allowed?
A: One-lining is replying to a roleplay with one line or one sentence. Because the expectation of the server is that all players write literate replies, you might get a verbal warning for writing a reply too short. If this is a common occurrence, you might receive a formal warning and have one of your roles revoked and be required to re-submit a RP Sample.
Q: Is there a Bio template?
A: No. You are free to use your own templates as long as they include enough information about your character and do not exceed the server's limits.
Q: Can we have half-breed characters?
A: Most species highlighted in the Bestiary are able to have half-breed offsprings. If you are uncertain, or want to know what abilities a certain half-breed character could have, reach out to one of our lore writers!
Q: What is the difference between flow, magic, and psionics?
A: Flow uses an energy that comes from within the individual to enhance the skills they already have. Magic can achieve a similar effect through enchantments, but its potential is far broader. Magic uses mana naturally taken from the environment in order to cast spells. Lastly, being a psion is seen as a gift. Psionic abilities use an individual's mental power, and a person cannot become a psion if they were not born one.
Q: Is there a limit to how many RPs I can have at once?
A: While there is no limit to how many RPs you can have active at once, we suggest that members have a maximum of three active RPs at one time to avoid overwhelming themselves.
Q: Can my character be in two or more locations at the same time if they're in different RPs?
A: No.
Q: How long do I have to wait for my RP partner to reply?
A: Every RP pair has its own rules for when they expect each other to reply, and we ask that these issues are solved between the members themselves as every situation is different. If you feel that your character has been in RP lock for too long, and you can provide proof that you cannot reach your RP partner due to ignored DMs or pings, ask a moderator whether you can have your character freed from the interaction to start another RP.
Q: Are timeskips allowed? How do they work?
A: Timeskips are permitted, but there are rules surrounding them. The main idea is that timeskips shouldn't affect other people's stories. Let's say you have a RP with Character A and Character B, and after the session ends, and the characters go their own way, Character A goes through a 5 year timeskip. If A interacts with Character C after the timeskip, it is assumed that their first interaction with B happened five years ago to both A and C. If A and B meet again, B would also have to go through a five year timeskip prior to them meeting.
Q: Is there a timeline RPs must follow?
A: Unless RPs interact with each other, players can have their characters be in any time of the year. With that in mind, you cannot go back in time to RP something that would have happened before your current RP or at any point in history. Tilia currently has no year that it is set in to allow flexibility with timeskips and when RPs take place.
