Things To Know. . .
Capital City: Frada
Ruler: The Council of Merchants
Main Religion: Varies
Cidaris is a small, independent country that relies on its convenient location to be a marketplace for all of Tilia. There is no ruler, and the people of power in this country are not kings, or nobles, but rather merchants, some of whom have the power to rule over some cities as kingdoms thanks to their trades.
Most of the cities of Cidaris are port cities that send shipments all around the globe. The capital of Cidaris is Frada, a city bustling with life, just like every other place in the country. The good sides of most cities hold prestigious academies, grand libraries, the palace-like homes of merchants, and lively marketplaces that seem to sell anything in the world, yet those sides make up a minority.
If you are not wealthy or fortunate, most of Cidaris is a hard place to get accustomed to. Behind the grand scenes and bright colours of the upper cities, the closer one gets to the ports, the less respectable and dangerous life becomes. The streets are often dull, grey and dirty, littered with people searching for work and chasing false dreams, and because of the lack of authority, many gangs and pirates thrive in them. A traveler in Cidaris has to quickly get accustomed to the odd sights, smells and conditions that many areas of this country provide, and if they cannot, they often leave as soon as they arrived.
Although there are city guards hired by a Council of Merchants, they are not a source of protection to be entirely relied upon.
