With school back in session, many clubs at HHS are finally making a return! Last year, only a few clubs were running, including Chorale, Robotics, Key Club, Drama Club, and Tiger Times. Even though many of these clubs were “running”, they were limited in what they were able to do. For instance, Robotics was not able to partake in many (if not any) of the competitions due to COVID. There could be no in-person rehearsals for any performing arts-related activities. In fact, the last few major performances pre-pandemic were the winter concerts for band and choir, and Almost Maine by the drama club. But all this has completely changed.
While it is too late to switch into band, choir, or drama classes, there are plenty of opportunities to partake in. Morris Area Honor Choir is running once again this year. Chorale, Hackettstown’s select-treble voices group, has already auditioned its members, but the men’s group is still open to join. If you are interested in singing acapella, making some more friends, and being involved in the choral program, consider joining. The men’s group meets on Monday evenings around 7:15 pm.
The theatre department has already started producing its fall play. The last major in-person production was Almost, Maine. Last school year, they even put on a virtual recorded production and did Seussical the Musical. This year they are performing The House on Pooh Corner, a story that should strike a chord with early memories and a younger audience. The cast has already been selected, but there is always room for the stage crew! Moreover, the musical is not too far off in the future, so if you would like to audition later on in the year, the theatre department encourages you!
To the performing arts department: break a leg!
