Most people who watch sports know that the month of March is March Madness. For those who do not know, March Madness is an NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) basketball tournament that goes on throughout the month of March. It works like any normal tournament would typically work, two teams play in the winner of the two teams' advances and that continues until there is one final team. There is a women’s March Madness and a men's
March Madness.
There are a total of sixty-eight men’s teams that compete against each other and sixty-four women's teams. All the games are broken up into brackets. The first bracket is called “First Four” and eight teams play in four different games. Only the men's league had the first four. The winner of those male teams advances to the First Round, while the women's team starts at the first round. Then there is the second round, next is “Sweet 16” then “Elite Eight.” Then the final four teams play in the “Final Four” and then there is the Championship between the final two teams.
The event March Madness started on Thursday, March 18, and the championship was scheduled to be on Monday, April 5th at 9:00 PM for the men's division. The final “Sweet 16” teams for the men's division are Florida State, Michigan, UCLA, Alabama, Oregon, USC, Creighton, Gonzaga, Oral Roberts, Arkansas, Villanova, Baylor, Oregon State, Loyola IL, Syracuse, and Houston. For the women's division, the first round started on Sunday, March 21. The Championship was scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 4th. The second round final teams are Virginia Tech, Baylor, Michigan, Tennessee, Iowa, Kentucky, Syracuse, Connecticut, South Florida, NC State, Belmont, Indiana, BYU, Arizona, Iowa State, and Texas A&M. Make sure to watch the Championships on April 5th at 9:00 pm and Sunday, April 4th.
On Monday, April 5th, The Baylor Bears beat Gonzaga, 81-72, and on April 2nd, Stanford beat Arizona, 54-53, winning March Madness for their division.
