Harrowpoint

The town of Harrowpoint was founded in the year 1571 in Komaru, near the modern border of Naireba.

Few members of the town can pass down the history of the town, besides the mayor and their ancestors themselves. They will say the town is a watchtower and a blockade against an ancient entity that the Order had defeated and imprisoned from centuries ago. The entity has been recently revealed to be the "Golem", or as Empyrean states, the "Titan", a colossal creature made of magic and stone.

It is not explicitly known why the Titan was imprisoned. Some might say the Titan was a destructive entity, wanting nothing but the termination of mankind; others might say it was imprisoned because it had the potential to do so. Regardless, it was defeated and its 'heart' was taken from it to keep it dormant. The mayor assigned themselves to be protectors of the heart.

The first century of the town's existence was a slow one, focusing on the foundations of the manor and first houses. The Order funded the town's development, and sorcerers seeking a placid lifestyle took to the town, becoming its first permanent residents.

The Clysmian bloodline of sorcerers has been a longtime overseer of the town and community, often doing what they can to help - the family was elected by the community to fill the position of mayor when the town denounced Order oversight in the late 1700s. The relationship between the Order and the town slowly became shaky. 

A prominent sorcerer of the Zentai family, Japheth, joined the town and married a Clysmian, Aeneus, the town secured its independence with the backing of a powerful sorcerer family. The family’s came together, forming the Clysmian-Zentai’s.

A story has since passed down, of Japheth's alleged younger sibling attempting to steal something important, most likely the crystal heart of the Titan, before being killed by a town member. The legend of a girl with a crystal heart able to speak with a monster, would be told from generation to generation ever since.

A second myth was also beginning to be passed down, of the Clysmian-Zentai's always having two children. The oldest would always inherit the town as mayor, while the other was driven out in one way or another.

Under the Clysmian-Zentai's, the town became a vacation destination for Order sorcerers, finding the town a quiet vacation free spot from the stress and trauma of the Order. The town members tolerated them, and the Order often provided good compensation, enough to keep the town afloat despite no specialty trades or exports. 

This would slowly change as the town looked toward simple trades - pelts, wild meats, antlers, even occasionally spelunking and cave exploring. Some members of the town became professional cave explorers, even happening upon the sealed tomb underneath the town. 

In more recent decades, visits from the Order has significantly decreased, most likely from Order sorcerers finding other places to rest and relax, and the town had moved on, supporting itself with wild trades and a dedicated yet still small tourist industry highlighting the town's uniqueness and particular locations to explore and showoff. 

The second-most recent generation of Clysmian-Zentai's is generation 7, consisting of Jasper and Silva, both born in the 1980s to Hailie and Redd Clysimian-Zentai. Redd can trace his ancestry to Japheth; his sibling, Carthach, left the town when they were both young. 

To those that grew up alongside Jasper and Silva, Silva was always noted to be an odd child, often out in the forest and returning when it became dark. There was an incident in their childhood when Silva did not come back home. The town looked for her into the early morning where Jasper found her in a cave with a broken leg.

While Jasper grew into his position as a mayor, Silva remained odd and distant, more intrigued with the local area than the town itself. She became an expert spelunker and knowledgeable of the forest.

The most recent generation consists of Helmund and Noelani, born 2005 and 2013, respectively. Helmund grew following in his father's footsteps, while others would say Noelani involuntarily followed her aunt's footsteps of being 'the cursed younger sibling', forever distant from her immediate family.

People started going missing in 2021, starting with Peter Ingvar (aged 108) and Chloe Hildren (aged 102); Georgia Brass (aged 100) in 2022; Rita Tikakano (aged 100) in 2023; Godfrey Dreamer (aged 98) abd Hailie Clysmian-Zentai (aged 77) in 2024.

Post-Titan Cleanup

Following the death of the official death of the mayor and perpetrator, the Jasper-Silva fusion that called itself "Empyrean", and the theorised death of the Titan, the town is still cleaning up the damage and dealing with the after effects of the whole ordeal.

The Order held a vote among its Master Sorcerers to democratically evaluate their stance on the town (vote was made amongst all Master Sorcerer characters) and they ultimately decided that the town would still remain partially independent of Order influence, allowing the town to decide its leadership but that an Order sorcerer would be assigned to the town to aid with leadership decisions.

Folenso Markesque  (they/him) was assigned by the Order to aid the town. They are known to be a friendly yet level-headed sorcerer with indifference to getting their hands dirty. They will be assigned to the town indefinitely for now.

Jasper Clysmian-Zentai would be soon buried with an empty casket in the town's cemetery, awarding him a proper funeral and good-byes to remember him in the state before the Herald used him to create Empyrean. Angel is notably distraught.

Silva was not given a gravestone and will be forgotten with disdain.

Empyrean's body has been willingly given to the Order for study.

Joey Brindley was given a proper burial.

The mayor's manor will be torn down and rebuilt, and any damaged houses will be fixed.

The Titan's body, with some cleanup and study, will remain at the town's edge and will be a tourist attraction when the town opens back up for tourists and visitors now that it is safe from the Titan and Herald's influence.

Helmund is working with Kya, hoping to take up his father's mantle as mayor but he has some growing up to do. The future will say whether he is up to the task or if the town will decide to elect a non-Clysmian-Zentai to become the new mayor.

Helmund's younger teenage sister, Noelani, has officially joined the Order, feeling inspired from Sorcerers: Dexter Webber and Dominique Sterling. She has moved into the Moasao Sanctuary to persue her study.

The town is available to be used in character creation. Please refer to the following guidelines when creating your character with roots to Harrowpoint! 

Harrowpoint origins cannot be given to existing characters.

• Your character and any native relatives currently residing in Harrowpoint cannot be older than 75. Older relatives can exist but they must have moved away from the town by 2024. Non-native Harrowpoint residents, such as outsiders that married a Harrowpoint resident, friends or acquaintances, etc, can be older than 70.

• You may create a character that is related to any named family, such as the Hildren's, Ingvar's, Dreamer's, Hellspider's, etc but cannot be related to the Clysmian-Zentai's unless they are at least third-cousins from Jasper/Helmund and cannot have the last name Clysmian-Zentai (refer to this chart for help!). Your character cannot be a current Clysmian, or Zentai. Otherwise, feel free to create a family within Harrowpoint!

• Your character's relatives could not have gone missing from 2021-2024.

• Your character cannot know the Teleportation spell unless they were taught by an Order sorcerer. Additionally, your character cannot have a sorcery ability above expert no matter how long they have been using sorcery if they have only learnt sorcery in the town.

• Your character could have been minimally involved with the investigation during the Twisted Town event but cannot have influenced the plot, such as finding evidence, exploring caves, giving pointers toward the investigating sorcerers, etc. However, feel free to ask any players that participated in the event for connections!

The Surroundings and Town

The surroundings of Harrowpoint is a deciduous forest, that is humid for most of the year, with rainy summers and cold, wet winters. The leaves turn red in the autumn and plant matter covers the ground. Rains and early mornings result in moderate fog and mist scattered amongst the town and forest. 

The town is a considerable clearing in the forest, with dirt and gravel roads. Automobiles are frowned upon, and it takes no more than 20mins to walk from one side of the town to the other. There is only one road leading to the next closest city and is around 2 hours away by car.

Most of the houses are made of wood and stone.

The Twisted Tree

The Twisted tree is a huge tree of unknown species with sprawling twisted branches, thorns, barked and non-barked, and flowers blossoming all year 'round and all types of colours and petal counts. It is twisted in all sense of the word.

An ancestral teenage member of the town started to use the spell: Twist Plants on the tree, making it grow strangely and leaving their own mark on the tree.  Over time this became somewhat of a youth tradition to leave their mark as they grow up, each branch is grown differently, some twisted, some mutated, some blossoming colour flowers, others not, others growing thorns… it’s a marvel. 

It was damaged during the Twisted Town event but has been healed by Eruvel.

It was connected to the tree holding the treehouse, but the treehouse has since been shaken apart and damaged beyond repair.

The Caves

The Cave of Spells is a popular tourist destination, completely safe and close to the surface. It is a cave ladened with large quartz crystals that glow in the presence of the a spell. Sneaky tour guides would light spells behind their back to make the crystals glow and dazzle tourists that don't know any better.

The Cave of Foresight is the second most popular tourist destination and has been made safer throughout the decades with handrails, carved steps and regular pruning of stalactites growing from the ceilings. It is a large underground lake with an 'eye' at the bottom of the lake created from the shape of glowing gemstones.

Presently, there are large debris in the cave from the ceiling falling.

The Cave of Unknown/Cave of the Golem has been seemingly excavated when the Golem and Titan emerged, with a deep pit left in the ground from its emergence. The edges of the pit may be unstable...

Before the Golem's emergence, it was a long, windy and humid cave, dangerous for spelunkers and visitors alike.
