*Please note that the info on this page is about the retro of the Rainier that was released/revealed at the end of 2022 and NOT the original, vintage Rainier that was made in USA!
For a secure, one-to-one fit, go true to size (ie: I am a true size 9.5, so I buy my Rainiers in a size 9.5).
Some people, including myself, like a little more wiggle room in their boots, for comfort and for an easier time getting the boot on foot. For this, it is safe to go up half a size (ie: I am a true size 9.5 and want more wiggle room, so I buy my Rainiers in a size 10) and you won't be swimming in the boots.
The retro Rainier does NOT come in different widths.
Comfort Factor Ratings:
Softness: 5/10
Firmness: 6/10
Midsole Shape: 4/10
The retro Rainier is comfortable for a boot. If you're looking for a firm and stable pair of boots, the retro Rainier is a great boot for you! Because of the nature of being a boot, the softness/cushioning from the foam is pretty average. The foam utilized in the retro Rainier is also nothing special; it is most likely just EVA foam and is not a proprietary foam tech from NB. The retro Rainier also has a noticeable lack of arch support in addition to having a pretty flat midsole shape.
