Despite being over two decades old, the 990v2 is still a pretty comfortable shoe in 2022!
The V2 took a different approach when it came to midsole cushioning tech; instead of ENCAP/MCD, it used Abzorb. Abzorb absorbs impact through a combination of cushioning and compression resistance. Unlike most proprietary foam midsoles, Abzorb is not just for cushioning and being overly soft. It's basically a special type of foam that has a combo of softness for cushioning, and toughness for compression resistance. It doesn't have as much stability and support as ENCAP does, but if you are looking for a shoe with more softness/cushioning, without being too squishy, the v2 is definitely for you!
