Comfort Factor Ratings:
Cushioning (Softness): 6/10
Stability (Firmness): 7/10
Cushioning to Stability Ratio: 6:7
Midsole Shape (Foot support): 7/10
The 993 is similar to the 992 in terms of comfort, in the sense that it is comfortable in its own special way. It has a great combination of both stability and comfort. However, if you are looking for a more soft, plush feeling shoe, then the 993 is NOT for you. The 993 is not as chunky as the 992 nor will you fill too elevated off the ground compared to the 992.
The 993 utilizes New Balance's proprietary Abzorb DTS comfort technology. The midsole absorbs impact through a combination of cushioning and compression resistance. The 993 has a good amount of stability and support as well as a good amount of cushioning without feeling overly soft or squishy.
