The Serpentes *NEW* Line

The Serpentes Asian Shedu is a quick and surefooted cat, thriving in disciplines such as mounted archery, racing and asian fighting. Serpentes rely on speed and control when working, making them an excellently focused animal to handle.

However Serpentes Asian Shedu Cats are known for being sensitive to commands, so handlers must be subtle and fluid in their movements. Else they may risk over-stimulating the cat, causing them to shut down to any command.

Serp himself is a bit like a greyhound, calm and lazy indoors but incredibly explosive energy wise when he's working, very sensitive to commands and touch and loves to jump and do acrobatics as well as run.

Base Information

The ideal coat of a Serpentes Asian Shedu Cat is a subdued basecoat, preferably in a slate shade, with pops of intensity from coloured patterns and confession. Peachy, light blue or otherwise heavily diluted cats are also sought after. Dark base coats and markings are not up to standard and will be penalized.

White markings are accepted on the legs and face of the individual, but should not exceed the knee-joints or go past the cheeks of the cat. Heavy white markings are generally disliked, although toad eye combined with piebald, splash or tobiano is sought after by certain breeders for its resemblance to a piebald ball python.

The ideal patterning for a Serpentes Asian Shedu Cat is the coveted toad eye marking, although breeders also seek medusa smoke and goldfish patterns. Medusa smoke due to its namesake, and goldfish due to the resemblance to scales.

An Asian Serpentes Shedu cat should have wide, upright ears with pronounced points, big expressive eyes preferably with a green, teal or blue colour, a sleek, short, shiny coat with a long mane and short tail. Bobtail and Extreme Bobtail are desired, as well as Rapunzel, Silky, Singtoo and Long manes.

Half-Sabers is a beloved trait of the founder, Serpentes himself. Full Sabers are accepted, but are less desired as they can easily get in the way of a cat’s working ability.

Long manes should always be groomed well and properly tied or braided when the cat is working.

Among less favored traits are curled tails, full manes and curved ears, although they are not as undesirable as a long tail, flopped ears (both big and classic) or classic ears.
