Nature facts

Foxes and owls often interact. Rarely do they fight with each other, but they can compete for prey in some environments (e.g. lemmings). Foxes can attack young owls if no other food is available.

In our story, both Fox and Owl are interested in what is happening to the forest and seek answers. In real life, foxes are intelligent animals, capable to adapt to different circumstances and solve problems. In spite of their reputation as wise animals, owls are not social birds and do not seem to have problem solving skills. But they have have excellent sensory abilities.

Inspiration

We chose the fox and the owl as the main characters for our story because the fox is often described as vain and the owl as wise.

In The Fox and The Owl by Oly Sylvan, the fox is an arctic fox and the owl a snowy owl and they live in the tundra. The arctic fox in Sylvan's book also claims to be special and unique.
