How Do I Apply Upgrades?

Applying upgrades in Thalassia's Edge is VERY simple! But let's go over it one step at a time in the in-depth guide below.

Do I Have to Spend Glowstone?

Nope!
Your Glowstone is never permanently spent. It's a counting system- if you want a certain upgrade, you'll have to meet a few requirements: The Glowstone count, and potentially, your character's age mechanically, and/or an art prompt. Reaching that upgrade's Glowstone count means that you can freely apply it to your nerokata as long as any other requirements are met!

Baby vs Adult Upgrades

Nerokata upgrades are split into two bigger groups- baby and adult. Baby upgrades are anything in the aptly named Baby Category. Any other upgrades cannot be applied to babies freely, but CAN be gained in either of these two ways:

Upgrade Items
Sand Dollars and Abyssal Pearls! Each will be indicated with an icon in the upgrade's art, and can be used to bypass ALL requirements for that upgrade. Sand Dollars are for easier upgrades, Abyssal Pearls are for rarer and harder to obtain ones. These items can be used on babies OR adults.

Pan's Curse
Pan's Curse is a phenomenon that is being seen in some nerokata fry. These fry are completely unable to Grow Up. You can learn more about why this is and how to attain this in the guide about Pan's Curse. But for the sake of this guide, it is worth noting that fry afflicted with Pan's Curse CAN freely use adult upgrades, as long as any age, Glowstone, and/or art requirements are met!

Actually Applying Upgrades

When you apply upgrades, you do not have to link to any proofs of the upgrade. All you have to do is list your character's name, and what upgrades they're getting in that image! As well as your current Glowstone count, of course. 

As a caveat, ALL adult nerokata MUST have a Character Tracker. They also need to have their own trackers because the tracker will Implode if it needs to keep track of too many. These trackers will be a mandatory part of Grow-Up applications!

The first tab is for a bunch of optional information that you can edit freely as you please- just DO NOT TOUCH THE UPGRADES SECTION. Touching the Upgrade section on the first tab will break it. It is very fragile.

The second tab is for your upgrades, and will fill itself out! Simply select your category and specific upgrade, and the tracker will fill out the info for that upgrade. Then, link your application of the upgrade and any proof for it, if need be. That's it!

The Character Tracker will automatically update with new upgrades as they come out!

Upgrade Requirements and Account Unlocks

Draw the nerokata you want this for: The nerokata getting the upgrade MUST be the one depicted in the upgrade art.

Draw a/your/any: These upgrades are one-time unlocks, and once they've been drawn once, are unlocked for ALL your nerokata!

Upgrades that say "can be any color on your nerokata" only includes base, secondary, and accent colors. They CANNOT be eye colored.

Free To Use Traits/Features
The following features aren't upgrades in Thalassia's Edge, and can be applied freely post-approval!
- Accessories.
- Full Outfits.
- Minor Scarring.
- Missing/chipped teeth.
- Missing digits.
- TEMPORARY blindness, deafness, larger injuries, etc.
- Mental disabilities of any kind.
- Deafness.
- Physical disabilities that do not include blindness, or limb loss.

Removing and Changing Upgrades
