MUN 2022 had its second day of the final session on September 7th. The committee began anew by displaying the GSL on the topic “Economic Crisis” in which many delegates were interested to discuss how the country’s economic situation was unfounded.
The chair was enraged and frustrated by the committee’s positive behavior and passive speaking abilities. They weren’t even trying to hear what others had to say.
“On the external front, the nation is in crisis due to dwindling remittances (a rising trade deficit due to extraordinary rise in imports), skyrocketing balance of payments imbalances, and falling foreign exchange reserves,” said Bushal Bhattrai.
Delegates are concerned that the country is moving on the same path as Sri Lanka, where the signs of a pre-economic catastrophe were as visible as they are in Nepal now “ Because of the economic crisis, there are more imports than exports.” The delegate of Gagan Kumar Thapa said,” Our party had a significant role in minimizing it.
However, the delegate of Janardan Sharma, who is mainly a politician representing the Communist Party of Nepal - Maoist Center (CPN-MC) led by the delegate of Pushpa Kamal Dahal and has no economic knowledge, has denied the existence of any serious economic problems in the nation. Despite such declarations, people are putting pressure on him to quit as a result of his failure to tackle the economic crisis.
Bhum Rauls’s representative claimed, “Inflation causes a big influence on the economic crisis”.
The spat between the delegate of Janardhan Sharma and the delegate of Sher-Bahadur Deuba is indicative of the country’s economic problem. According to recent figures, the country’s inflation rate has risen to 7.14%, owing mostly to an increase in transportation and construction expeditions.
The committee ended with a fruitful discussion after careful moderation by the dias panel.
