Slack was originally developed as an internal communication platform for a gaming company called "Tiny Speck", and developed to sell after the failure of a new game. Released public in 2014. Purchased by Salesforce in 2020. It was known for making remote work more "fun" with the color scheme and one of the first to have a variety of emoji options as reactions.
