María, Lupe’s daughter, explains that her mother indicate that her mother assessed as having a moderate degree of dependency, is able to carry out some activities of life and can walk on her own. A few years ago she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and she is now in the moderate phase in which the cognitive deterioration has been progressing towards dementia. Lupe forgets the names of people and objects in her daily life (anomia) and does not remember where she keeps things or the order in which to carry out certain activities such as washing and feeding herself and she has difficulty dressing correctly (dressing apraxia), she is easily disorientated and has episodes of confusion and disorientation, especially at dusk (sunset syndrome).

Lupe often gets food burned because she forgets she had it on, she forgets her keys in the front door of the house and she also forgets to take her medication or takes it and doesn't remember that she has taken it. She has mood swings and she is irritable and angry.
