At Taradale, we believe kids need to be kids. Hands-on learning, real challenges and time to explore help students build confidence, stay engaged and enjoy what they’re doing.
Hands on learning
_________
At Taradale Primary School, hands-on learning is a regular part of school life.
We often link projects to literacy and mathematics where it makes sense, but we also value them in their own right. These experiences build problem solving, teamwork and a willingness to try things, make mistakes and keep going.
Students work with a range of materials and tools—sewing machines, wood, mud and whatever else a project might need. They build, create and test their ideas over time.
This work reflects our values of respect, diversity and trust—students learn to work with others, value different ideas and approaches, and develop the confidence to have a go and back themselves.
This might look like building, making huts, running experiments, working in the garden, organising fundraisers, filming movies or cooking over a fire. Projects shift and grow over time, often shaped by student interests.
