Theme: “Delving into the Realms of STEAM and ICT in Embarking an Immersive Experiences Filled with Innovation, Creativity, and Digital Wonders”
ARTICLE/FEATURE WRITING
Objective:
The main motive of this contest is to support Conpereynians in improving their writing skills. To develop a better comprehension of their emotions and thoughts, fostering self-reflection and self-awareness. It also helps them become adept at organizing their ideas and evidence and presenting them cogently.
Target Participants:
Grade 7-12 students
Mechanics and Rules
The feature writing contest is open to all Grade 7–12 Conpereynians. A maximum of two (2) students per grade level will be given a chance to participate in the event.
The contestants must be at the writing venue 20 minutes before the contest starts. In the event that the contestant is not present at the venue, he or she will be permitted 20 minutes by the facilitator prior to the start of the contest. If he or she is still not present after the 20-minute allotted time, he or she will be automatically disqualified.
The participants may be given a fact sheet with background information about the topic to be featured before the contest begins.
The contestants should bring their pencils, pens, notebook papers, a dictionary, and a thesaurus. During the contest proper, a clean sheet of yellow paper is prescribed to be used.
The duration of the contest lasts two hours. The participants have two hours to complete the entire article with a minimum of 500 words. Failure to do so will result in a deduction of points.
The language that must be used in writing is English. If there is an expression or words that are expressed in a different language to denote emphasis, it is advisable to italicize the words or phrases that are used.
The feature article should be the original work of the student, and it should not be copied from other articles.
Articles must be handed over to the facilitators when the allotted time is up. Ensure to write the number assigned for checking and identification of each contestant.
The winners in the contest will receive a Certificate of Recognition in the following categories: champion, first-runner, second-runner, and third-runner-up.

Relevance to the theme - 25%
Grammar - 25%
Organization of ideas - 20%
Originality - 20%
Neatness and readability of the Article - 10%
TOTAL - 100%
