Sunday Wood School Painting

Background

The community is bounded to the North by Conejo Creek Village, to the South by Crique Sarco and Corazon Creek, to the East by Santa Theresa and Mabil Ha and to the West, the Sarstoon Temash National Park. The community was named after a saint which was the name of the Catholic Church at that time which was Santo Domingo. The inhabitants came together to decide on a permanent name of the community. Therefore they decided to translate the Domingo in English which is Sunday; and at that time, this village is full of all types of commercial woods, hence it is called Sunday Wood Village.

Sunday Wood R.C School is a rural school located in Sunday Wood Village that is located approximately 25 miles from Punta Gorda Town. Majority of the students are from this village while a minority are from Lucky strike village located about a mile and a half from Sunday Wood Village. Students who are from the village where the school is walk to school daily while those who are from Lucky Strike ride on the School bus that transports students to Corazon Creek Technical High School.

Description of Problem

n an effort to provide conducive learning environment for our students at Sunday Wood R.C School, there is only so much that the teachers can do. As teachers, we put up our basic charts but the painting of our classrooms have faded away and could not brighten the learning environment. The school buildings were painted from since they were constructed.

This is a shared plan with all the key leaders, members of this community and immediate stake holders in education. We all believed that this is also a need in the community. Therefore, if we can allocate some funding for the painting of our school buildings, then community members can wash and scrub clean the school buildings. They can also help with the painting.
