Blue Creek Water System

Location

Blue Creek Village (~60-minute drive from Punta Gorda)

Blue Creek Village is a Mopan and Kekchi village of about 270 people. The community lies along flat roads, spanning both sides of Blue Creek. Clusters of thatch huts border both sides of Blue Creek, a beautiful, clear stream emerging from the surrounding thick jungle. Upstream of the bridge is a wide blue-green pool where Maya women beat their laundry on the smooth stones. The banks are lined with tall shady trees. The reflection of the thick jungle rainforest, which lines both sides, is clearly visible in the surface of the creek.

Current Situation

Over the past years, Blue Creek Roman Catholic Primary School, have been accomplishing various small projects to help make the school a safe and conducive learning environment. The next project we would desperately need to do is to construct a water supply for the school and especially during the dry season. and the school don’t have access to water . This project aims to improve the lives of 200 students enrolled at Blue Creek R.C. School by providing the children with a clean , safe water to drink and to keep the bathroom flushing purposes .

This is an example of the pump at the school but doesn’t have any hand to pump the water.
