Goal:
- Design, construct, test a particle classification laboratory to improve industrial scale production efficiency.
Shown to the left is an image of the laboratory I design and helped build.

The classifier drawings I produced after several weeks of taking meticulous measurements.
We salvaged an old classifier without drawings. My first task was to create detailed CAD drawings. Many of the dimensions required were internal so to measure these I used a two part polyurethane molding material then measured the external dimensions of this.
My recently designed de-agglomerator consists of two mating pin mill plates. The cylinders create a high level of shear and turbulence in their wake, thus providing an ideal environment to mix freshly presented powder with the inlet air.
A view of the labyrinth seals I designed. Expanding fluid chambers change their geometry faster than the flow can; thus, creating recirculation regions which create a large pressure drop for any given leakage flow.
These seals are non-contact, resting between 0.030" - 0.045" inches above a flat surface.
