Finite element analysis was used in design process for frame to be mounted on a six degree of freedom robotic platform.
Stresses are applied to the areas indicated by the arrows.
The resulting deflections are calculated.
The resulting stresses in the structure are calculated to assess the feasibility of the design.
Following several design iterations, a frame design was chosen and implemented which took advantage of stiffness from the top structure.
Significant software development to control the platform through a real-time box was done in Labview.
