Aquilaran collaboration record, intercepted by Terran Intelligence.
Administrator: So what is it you think we should report to the seventeenth circle Lashesh?
Researcher: I believe my report makes it clear, the Terrans have done something unique. It requires further investigation.
Administrator: Have they though? Cybernetics is hardly unique, networking is hardly unique. The seventeenth circle will have my gills if I forward them something dull.
Researcher: No no, it's unique. We don't have any records of any living civilization doing something so foolish.
Administrator: AI overseeing AI isn't neccessarily foolish, granted it always has some risk, but we manage it fine, the Terrans are not idiots. We don't like them, but it does no good to underestimate them.
Researcher: Agreed, I in fact have several Terran friends... well... more like contacts...
Administrator: Focus Lashesh.
Researcher: Yes yes, well, it's not just AI monitoring other AI, it's also AI running processes through organic processors... well... brains. It's quite interesting.
Administrator: To you.
Researcher: You'll see! It'll be interesting to the seventeenth circle too! We might want to try this ourselves... in controlled environments of course.
Administrator: Yes, but that's not what you really are asking for in your addendum is it.
Researcher: Err, no.
Administrator: Right. You want to go off world, with a not insignificant budget, and see if you can make "observations" in person, that our sensor posts and signal intercepts can't glean.
Researcher: Yes! I think it will be most illuminating!
Administrator: Fine. I'll forward your report, I'll even support the addendum. Do you know why?
Researcher: Glurp.
Administrator: Because I'm far too busy to deal with how much you'll sulk if I reject this out of hand. Who knows, maybe you're even half right.
Researcher: Thank you Administrator!
Administrator: You are most welcome, now pass the Preen, I'm peckish.
