There are many available scenarios to play in Empty Epsilon. Here are some of the popular choices.
Increased tensions between the Kraylor and the Human Navy compel Command to establish a patrol of the established neutral zone between Kraylor and Human Navy space. Destroy any Kraylor vessels that cross the neutral zone, but do not enter the neutral zone unless authorized. Mission ends under one of these conditions:

Your mission is to pick up Ambassador Gremus and take him to his next assignment. He may have one or two other stops for you along the way. Your ship is classed as a Flavia Falcon. Its primary purpose is as a courier and freight delivery vehicle. Your ship weapons are trained aft, primarily to deter pirates when they are chasing you. You are not a full combat vessel, so you should not try to shoot it out with all enemy vessels you encounter.

The isolation and contention in the region where you are posted has prompted the locals to name the remaining stations, “Doomed Outpost.” Several hostile factions continue to battle each other. The conflict duration has negatively impacted shipyard facilities and maintenance schedules. Consequently, your ship's capabilities are significantly reduced from when it was manufactured. We no longer have a dedicated shipyard where you can improve your ship, but many of the former employees of the shipyard continue to offer their services on friendly and neutral stations in the area. Your mission is to survive and do what you can to protect the four remaining “Doomed Outpost” stations. Defeat is almost guaranteed.

This is a player ship vs. player ship scenario. The objective is to destroy your opponents’ ships and other assets. The terrain is randomly generated each time the scenario is run, but it is symmetric: the same things are in each opponent’s territory in the same position. Scores are determined based on the destruction of stations and ships. Loss of specialized personnel (scientists) is also scored against a team.

Think Death Race 2000... in space. Your starship team competes against other teams to complete 3 laps around a course. The course is designated by waypoint markers. Finish placement determines a number of points, and there are targets of opportunity to shoot for extra points. The team with the highest end points wins. Sounds simple, right? Did we mention the random enemies that chase you in the course? Or perhaps the booby-traps at the way-points? Or that your opponents can fire on you during the course? Yea, it's all that. No pressure, though. No pressure. Walk in the park....

You escape a Kraylor brig on station DS-23 onto a derelict starship amongst several derelict starships in a junkyard. You must dock with a Human Navy station to report on the Kraylor activity in the area. Your Engineering and Science officers will be busy maintaining a largely dysfunctional ship and scanning the garbage in the junkyard for better alternatives.

A number of Exuari ships have apparently stationed themselves all around the area. Right now they are just remaining motionless. Our investigation tells us that they are exhibiting behaviors that resemble locusts. We think they are preparing to gather and swarm and attack anything that gets in their way. Your mission is to eliminate them.

A freighter, pursued by Exuari, arrives in the system seeking help. You are sent to protect them so that they can take refuge at your home station. Once the pursuers are chased off or destroyed, you receive word that one of the freighter’s crew is deathly ill. The station’s medical facilities cannot cure him, only treat the symptoms. They need you to go retrieve medical information and treatment from another station known to have experience with this illness. Time is critical or the crew member may perish. Assuming you return in time, the station informs you that the infection was deliberate and that the Exuari intend to release a plague on humanity. It’s up to you to save us all.

You are sent to investigate the machinations of the Kraylor. They brag about their new weapon that they are about to field test. Their behavior starts to parallel the Imperial’s behavior from Star Wars, A New Hope. You find that the Kraylor have indeed built a planet destroying “weapon” and you are supposed to figure out a way to destroy it before it destroys all the planets in the region.

This scenario consists of several short missions. The first mission is always helping a station being harassed by Exuari. Once you complete that mission, you are directed to dock at the station. The Relay officer visits the dispatch office to get the next short mission. From this point forward, the scenario is divided into three groups of short missions. There are four missions in the first group and three missions in the second group. For the third group, you select between one of three open ended missions to end the scenario. In many cases, your helm officer will be asked to dock with stations that are in orbit, sometimes the station will be in orbit around a planet or moon that is in turn in orbit around a planet or star.
