Admiral's Recommendation:
If you are new to Starship Bridge Sims, this is a great first scenario to engage with!
Increased tensions between the Kraylor and the Human Navy compel Command to establish a patrol of the established neutral zone between Kraylor and Human Navy space. Destroy any Kraylor vessels that cross the neutral zone, but do not enter the neutral zone unless authorized. Mission ends under one of these conditions:
Mission time expires
Strength of Kraylor or Human Navy falls below a defined threshold
The difference between the Kraylor strength and the Human Navy strength exceeds a defined threshold
Mission time divisions:
Treaty Holds
The Kraylor abide by the treaty.
The Kraylor are belligerent (some radical Kraylor may cross the neutral zone)
Treaty Broken
The Kraylor break the treaty. Target Kraylor vessels on both sides of the neutral zone.
The Kraylor engage in war crimes. Target Kraylor stations and vessels.
During the mission, the residents on some friendly stations may offer upgrades to your starship. Stations provide that kind of information through contact with your Relay officer. The residents start off wanting something in exchange for the upgrade but are more accommodating as the war progresses.
At some point, Relay will be granted fleet disposition authority. With this authority, Relay can direct friendly fleets to hot spots on both sides of the neutral zone. Be sure your Relay officer does not accidentally commit a war crime by destroying Kraylor civilian assets on the Kraylor side of the neutral zone prior to the fourth stage of the mission.
Default thresholds (may change based on difficulty setting at the start of the scenario)
Mission ends in victory if enemy strength falls below 70% of their initial strength.
Mission ends in defeat if friendly strength falls below 50% of initial strength.
Mission ends if the strength difference between warring factions exceeds 20%; victory if we’re stronger, defeat if they’re stronger.
