Welcome, interns! We're excited to have you with us!
As an intern, you'll inspire future musicians and learn valuable skills in teaching, conflict resolution, time management, and tons more.
This site is your go-to resource for all camp-related info and advice as you go. For any issues on this site, email Travis at tadams@schoolofrock.com or post in your school's intern Band group.
Everyone's mission at SOR is to enrich as many lives as possible through music education & performances. Keep this in mind and remind other interns when they need it. It's important for us to be united and have fun!
As an intern, you're not just hanging out playing tunes. You're also a leader and a mentor. Your choices and actions matter! Guide campers to make the right choices by following the rules, and always seek help from your Camp or Music Director when needed.
Interns MUST embrace optimism, empathy, kindness, honesty, accountability, problem-solving, planning, organization. Most importantly, they must always try their very best. It's a lot!
Focus on using your strengths in these areas while you also develop your weaker ones. Kind of like how you learn your instrument or a new song, right?
The goal is ALWAYS to make the campers' experience fun each day, enhance their musical skills, be a great team, and ignite everyone's passion for music while you encourage campers to join our programs so they can continue their musical journey. It feels good to pass on the tradition of music!
Rest up and eat breakfast, it'll really go a long way!
Be on time; don't be THAT kid!
Pay attention during meetings and ask questions that help the team.
Be patient and kind to all campers; take the high road.
Remember, asking for help doesn't make you weak.
Be part of the team and make sure other interns are joining you in doing that too.
Contribute, have fun, learn, grow, and be cool (like we know you are)!
