Songkhla Reaffirms Its Role as a Safe and Vibrant Gateway to the World
Songkhla, Thailand – 30 September 2025 – Songkhla opened its doors to the world last night at the Songkhla Business Night, a landmark diplomatic and economic gathering hosted at the Grand Ballroom of Burisriphu Hotel. Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 22 countries across Europe and Asia, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international media, joined hands with Songkhla’s business community to explore opportunities in trade, investment, and tourism.
The event was organized under the collaboration of the Joint Provincial Private Sector Committee (JPPS), the National Security Council, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of leading private sector organizations in Songkhla, including the Songkhla Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Songkhla Tourism Council.
At the heart of the evening was an opening address by Mr. Songpon Changsirivathanathamrong, President of the Songkhla Chamber of Commerce, who presented an overview of the province’s economic outlook:
“Songkhla is entering a new era of growth, where our unique position will allow us to serve not just Thailand, but the world,” said Mr. Songpon Changsirivathanathamrong. Positioned as Thailand’s southern gateway, Songkhla is unlocking opportunities in new industries such as advanced medical services, wellness tourism, cruise economy, and digital innovation, while strengthening its established role in logistics, MICE, and cross-border trade. These emerging sectors are designed to diversify the economy, attract global investors, and ensure long-term sustainable growth.
With its strategic location bridging Europe, North America, Oceania, and Asia to ASEAN, Songkhla offers more than just connectivity—it offers lifestyle appeal. The city combines affordability with modern conveniences, international education, and quality healthcare, making it both an attractive hub for global commerce and a desirable place to live. This unique blend of opportunity and livability positions Songkhla as a rising international gateway for investment and innovation.”
Guests were treated to a specially curated sit-down dinner featuring Songkhla’s finest local ingredients — from oysters of Koh Laenang and Khlong Ngae tofu to freshly prepared Songkhla sea bass. Each course was thoughtfully paired with cocktails crafted from Songkhla’s distinctive local spirits, offering a unique tasting journey that reflected the province’s culinary heritage and creative innovation.
Throughout the evening, guests also explored 19 exhibition booths representing key industries:
- Food & Export: Frozen seafood, processed rubber, and innovative pet food products.
- Creative Gastronomy: Local street food icons, artisanal desserts, and Songkhla’s recognition as a Creative City of Gastronomy.
- Wellness & Medical: Bangkok Hospital, Thonburi Rajyindee Hospital, Whale Wellness, and Hatyai Well-being City showcased the province’s healthcare leadership.
- Local Spirits & Breweries: A vibrant showcase of Songkhla’s artisanal brands including Samila Beer, NAKIN, ANONG, Den Phum, Takiya, Gintahla, and Nang Rum.
- Cultural Showcase: Traditional Songkhla textiles highlighted the province’s craftsmanship and creativity.
In closing, Mr. Songpon emphasized the importance of international recognition: “As Songkhla strengthens its international profile, it is important that existing travel advisories on the province be reconsidered to reflect today’s reality. Songkhla has demonstrated that it is not only safe and welcoming, but also an emerging hub for global trade, investment, and tourism. Recognizing this will allow the province to fully showcase its potential to the world.”
