Core Vocabulary Approach
Procedure
Word Selection: Collaboratively select 50 "functionally powerful" words that are personally meaningful to the child.
Weekly Target Words: From the list, 10 words are chosen for targeted practice in sessions ideally attended two times per week.
Consistency Testing: At the end of the week, the child produces the 10 words three times. Consistently produced words are removed from the list of 50, while nconsistently produced words remain on the list for future selection.
Ongoing Word Selection: Each week, 10 words are randomly selected from the remaining list of words for continued practice.
