Prof. Blaine Fowers (Miami, USA)

Blaine Fowers (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin in 1987) is Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Miami. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. His primary scholarly interest is in exploring the moral dimension of psychology, both in research and practice. His current scholarly work is centered on the contributions of Aristotle's ethics to a richer understanding of research and clinical practices in psychology and of ordinary life.

He is the 2016 winner of the Joseph Gittler Award for Contributions to the Philosophical Foundations of Psychology and was a Distingusished Visiting Professor at the University of Birmingham, UK in May, 2016.

He is the author of The Evolution of Ethics (2015), Virtue and Psychology (2005), Beyond the Myth of Marital Happiness (2000), and a co-author of Frailty, Suffering, and Vice: Flourishing in the Face of Human Limitations (2017) and Re-envisioning Psychology (1999). He is co-authoring books: The Emerging Science of Virtue; Phronesis; The Centrality of Friendship in Human Life: Virtue, Evolution, and Flourishing. Prof. Fowers has published numerous peer reviewed articles on virtue and practical wisdom in psychology.
