Dr. Marek Wiesenganger works as a university associate professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Trnava. He is part of a research team that has long been involved in the school subject of Ethical Education, both in terms of researching its effectiveness and developing and innovating the original concept. He is involved in theories of moral education from the perspective of pedagogy, philosophy, or philosophy of education (e.g. The Importance of Moral Education in School, 2014; Moral Education in the State National Education in Slovakia 1918-1939, 2017). A specific area of his research is the theory and education of virtue and its connection with prosocial education (e.g. Prosocial behaviour from the perspective of virtue ethics, 2016; Help and virtue in Thomas Aquinas' Theological Summa, 2018; Is it possible and necessary to cultivate love? Education to love according to "Summa Theologiae" of Thomas Aquinas, 2019; Relationality in Education of Morality, 2021 - eds. with Andrej Rajský). He is currently working on a book entitled Prosocial Character Education. At the same time, he is involved in the training of teachers for Ethics Education and in the development of methodologies that link the development of prosocial behaviour, the dialogical approach and character education. He is the president of the civil association FILIA - Association for Ethical Education and Character.
