As the President of SimDemocracy you are the main representative and face of SimDemocracy for the duration of your 2-week term.
You become a member of the Intelligence Command, having full access to classified information.
You become a member of Joint Command, having full authority over the military of SimDemocracy. The General serves at your directions, and the Tribune provides you with reports on the General's activities.
The power to appoint executive officers (such as secretaries) and dismiss them is in your hands. However, the appointment must be confirmed by the Senate.
You can appoint Presidential Advisers without Senate confirmation. They will have a direct line of communication with you for you to receive feedback and legal counsel.
The President is to be the second Moderator of r/SimDemocracy with full permissions at all times during their term.
The President has primary authority over r/SimDemocracy’s foreign affairs.
You have the authority to negotiate treaties and agreements on r/SimDemocracy’s behalf. Treaties and Agreements with foreign entities must be approved by a twenty four (24) hour public referendum with a 2/3 positive vote.
A Constituent Referendum may be invoked by the President, in which a proposal or an existing law may be voted on to be part of the Constitution.
The President has the power to veto a bill voted on by the Senate, preventing it from passing.
The President does not have the authority to hold an impeachment, to pass laws or determine guilt/innocent of someone in a trial
§1. The President shall be the primary executive body of r/SimDemocracy and shall represent the interests of the people by wielding executive authority.
§2. Presidential elections shall be available for twenty four (24) hours, occur every two (2) weeks and be held by the Secretary of Elections.
§2.1. To take part in the election, a candidate shall have to announce their candidacy in the twenty four (24) hours call for candidates before the election.
§2.2. If this is not possible, the proof of their candidacy shall be given to the Secretary of Elections.
§2.3. The President shall be elected using STAR voting method described in Appendix §2.2.
§2.4. Article 2, §5.1, §5.2, §5.3 of the Constitution all shall apply.
§3. The President shall have the authority to veto legislation voted on by the Senate.
§3.1. The Senate may override the veto as described in Article 1, §7 of the Constitution.
§4. The President is to be the second Moderator of r/SimDemocracy with full permissions at all times during their term.
§4.1. The President shall have all the restrictions outlined in Appendix §2.1.
§4.2. Under exceptional circumstances, a pre-emptive ban not exceeding ten percent (10%) of the statutory maximum punishment may be applied before a trial. When the statutory maximum punishment is a permanent ban, or is undefined, a pre-emptive ban not exceeding one (1) week may be applied.
§5. The President shall have primary authority over r/SimDemocracy’s foreign affairs.
§5.1. The President shall have the authority to negotiate treaties and agreements on r/SimDemocracy’s behalf. Treaties and Agreements with foreign entities must be approved by a twenty four (24) hour public referendum with a 2/3 positive vote.
§5.2. The President shall have the authority to appoint or remove ambassadors who will serve as representatives of r/SimDemocracy to foreign entities.
§5.3. All citizens, unless prohibited by later statutes, may be considered ambassadors.
§5.4. The President shall have the authority to make declarations as defined under the Second Memeva Conventions, where Article 1 §6.1 of the Constitution applies.
§6. The President shall have immunity against punishments described in Appendix §1.5.
§7. A Constituent Referendum may be invoked by the President, in which a proposal or an existing law may be voted on to be part of the Constitution.
