The Executioner 5⭐
Main Characters:
Robert Hunter
Carlos Garcia
They all knew that if Robert Hunter had been assigned to the case, the murderer had used overwhelming violence to do it.
It’s official—I’m so into this series, it’s not even funny anymore 😍😍 After everything Robert and Garcia went through with the Crucifix Killer, they deserve a break more than anyone… but of course, they don’t get one 😅😅 Instead, a new killer appears—just as brutal, but with a completely different style. The murders are connected by numbers, and Robert and Garcia are thrown straight into another intense investigation. They need to catch this killer as soon as possible.
The Executioner was just as fast-paced and gripping as the first book. The murders were brutal and jaw-dropping—in a way I’m starting to get used to with Chris Carter’s books. I was literally reading with wide eyes and an open mouth half the time 😨😨 We also learn more about Robert’s past, especially about his mother. He was such a sweet, kind child—and honestly, that kindness is still there. Whether it’s his younger self or his present one, every version of Robert is just so lovable 🥰🥰
"You’re the only one who’s ever believed me. You’re the only one I trust." With tears in her eyes she hugged him.
During the investigation, we meet a young girl named Mollie, who might help with the case. She was such a sweet kid stuck in a horrible family situation—especially with her piece-of-shit father 🤮🤮 She’s never really had anyone to trust or care for her, and Robert gives her that just by being himself, without expecting anything in return. I absolutely adored their relationship. Watching her slowly open up and start trusting him was so heartwarming—they gave major father-daughter vibes 💕💕 I really hope we see her again in future books.
Garcia could barely believe what he was hearing. It was because of Hunter’s stubborn attitude that he was alive today. If Hunter thought Garcia would simply turn and walk away, he had another think coming.
Robert and Garcia’s teamwork was just as strong as before—maybe even better 😎😎 I love their partnership; it really feels like a brotherhood at this point. That being said… Garcia has terrible luck with serial killers 🤣🤣 Once again, he gets caught at the last moment, and once again, Robert saves both of them. Aside from that, the new police officer—I think his name was Ian Hopkins—fit nicely into their dynamic, and I also liked the new police chief.
The reveal of the killer and his motives was surprisingly easy to empathize with. I understood his rage and need for revenge, and honestly… despite how gruesome the deaths were, I couldn’t bring myself to feel bad for the victims 🤷♀️🤷♀️ They kind of had it coming. Overall, this was another amazing read. I’m completely hooked on this series and can’t wait to continue. See you in the next review 👋👋
