Wow. This book was amazing, and that ending… 🤯🤯 As soon as I finish this review, I'm starting the next book immediately. I need to know what happens next.

Shadow Heart picks up exactly where Blood Oath ended and continues the story perfectly. After Everett's words reset all the progress the boys had made with Maven, my biggest fear was that we'd be back at square one and spend the entire book watching them rebuild their relationships from scratch. Thank God that wasn't the case 🙏🙏

Despite all the hurt and anger Maven still carried, she was much more understanding toward the boys in this book. At the same time, they were finally starting to understand her personality and learning exactly when to push her boundaries and when to back off 👍👍 I loved watching not only their relationships with Maven develop, but also the relationships between the boys themselves. Considering how much they usually hated each other, their growth was just as satisfying to read 😅😅

Maven was still the badass bitch we know and love 😎😎 Even though she slowly started softening toward the guys (much to her own horror because she absolutely hates being soft), it never became overly sappy or out of character. She wasn't afraid to put the boys in their place whenever they deserved it, and I loved how much they respected her in return 😉😉

The romance and world-building were just as strong as in the first book. The boys' obsession with Maven was incredibly swoon-worthy. They loved her fiercely and never hesitated to show it. Even better, Maven became just as possessive of them in this book. Every time she referred to them as "hers," I couldn't stop smiling like an idiot. They were all ridiculously adorable together 😍😍

Accepting the boys as hers didn't just calm their insecurities—it also finally gave Maven a place where she could be unapologetically herself. No more hiding. No more pretending to be weaker than she is 😈😈 She gets to stab people, unleash her blood magic when necessary, embrace her morbid little self, and slowly lower the walls around her heart. Seeing her gradually trust the boys and let them in was one of my favorite parts of the book 💘💘

“You're mine, and I'm yours—end of the motherfucking story. The end. Get over it.”

Baelfire somehow gets cuter every single chapter. I adore him 💕💕 The way he takes care of Maven is so sweet, and I absolutely love his possessiveness. Don't even get me started on him calling her his mate. That phrase is my complete undoing 🤤🤤

Crypt continues to be my wonderfully unhinged romantic 😉😉 Most of my favorite quotes in this book came from him. His brand of insanity matches Maven's perfectly, making every interaction between them hilarious, chaotic, and oddly romantic. Learning more about his past only made me love him even more.

Everett finally got some much-needed development with Maven. I'm so glad they finally cleared up the misunderstanding his curse caused 🙏🙏 He was so awkward throughout the whole book. Every time Maven got a little too close, he'd do something embarrassing and immediately spiral into, "Kill me now," or "Let me throw myself out the window." It made me laugh so much 🤣🤣

“All magic tastes the same to me. But not hers. No, Maven tastes like she's mine.”

And lastly, Silas... he completely broke my heart in this book 💔💔 His condition kept getting worse, and his curse became genuinely terrifying. When it finally got the better of him and he almost hurt Maven... it was absolutely devastating 😭😭 He was ready to kill himself over what he'd done, but Maven refused to let him run away. The way she handled the situation was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time 💯💯

And what Silas did for Maven at the end of the book... astonishing 😱😱 I never saw that plot twist coming. My jaw genuinely dropped. Moments like that are exactly why I love reading. I'm so glad I waited until this series was completed before starting it because I honestly can't imagine having to wait after that ending.

Overall, Shadow Heart was an incredible sequel to Blood Oath. It was fast-paced, emotionally satisfying, and packed with so many memorable moments that I couldn't even mention them all—Kenzie and the changeling situation, the Immortal Quintet, Maven's blood oath... there was always something happening. If the series keeps this quality up, I'm going to have an amazing time. See you in the next book's review! 👋👋
