Reflections

This week has been a great week. We did three main things this week. The first thing we did were editing our lines of inquiry, key concepts, and related concepts. We had 4 key concepts, but the maximum to do was 3. We removed 1 key concept which was form. We thought that the form key concept was not that good as the other key concepts we had. Because we removed a key concept, we also removed the line of inquiry related to form. I am happy because now our central idea, lines of inquiry, key concepts, and related concepts are ready to be confirmed by Ms. Richel. The second thing we had was a session on paraphrasing by Mr. Michael. We learnt to paraphrase information, and change it into our own words. Mr. Michael taught us many tips to paraphrase and I think paraphrasing will be really useful to us in the PYPX. The third thing that happened this week was going to the Mentari School to see their PYPX. There were many grade 5 students there and they had set up their booths to give presentations. Their topics were based on the SDGs, and they took action to help in solving those issues. Their presentations and booths were pretty good, but I think one thing they could do better is not reading much off their slides. ln conclusion, this week was an excellent week and our group really liked it.

This week was fun. Mr. James announced that we have to fix our key concepts and related concepts. After school, we had a group call to fix our key concepts. Our key concepts have to be related to our lines of inquiry. We had 4 lines of inquiry. We all had to vote for one line of inquiry we should remove. Once we all voted, we removed "how does it feel being addicted to social media?" Now, we can remove one of our key concept and edit our related key concepts. A few days later, Mr. Michael taught us paraphrasing. He gave us a few tips on how to paraphrase, and the first tip was my favorite. After the day Mr. Michael taught us paraphrasing, we went to Mentari School! I was super excited since one of my best friend is in that school. We went to the school bus and it was a wonderful experience. 20-30 minutes later, we arrived to Mentari School. Grade 5 from Mentari School had a PYP Exhibition and we were invited. We saw a few presentations and they were pretty impressive. I don't think there was any challenging parts this week. I'd say this week was wonderful!

I really loved how this week went! I was able to learn a few new things that will aid us in our PYPX presentation. Though we had a small problem. We had to move one of our key concepts and turn it into a related concept. Due to that problem, we needed to also change our lines of inquiry by a little bit. After finding a solution to that, we all agreed that we should remove the one of the LOI. We removed our 4th LOI and moved form to the related concepts. Then on Wednesday, we learnt about paraphrasing. Mr. Michael Athens was the person leading the presentation. He taught us 2 strategies of paraphrasing. The first one is trying to get the main idea and rewriting the information where it still makes sense. The second strategy is when you get the main idea, you rearrange the sentence and find synonyms for the words you have to change. We also have to give credit with an "according to _____,". Then we had the most exciting part. We went to Mentari school for at least an hour. It was a very exciting and interesting thing because we learnt some brand new things that will aid us on our own PYPX. After that exciting journey, we did our reflection. So far, this week has gone well. I am excited on what other things we will do next week.

I learned a lot this week and it wasn't as busy as before. I attended a presentation by Mr. Michael on paraphrasing and edited our lines of inquiry, key concepts, and related concepts. The presentation was informative and easy to understand. Mr. Michael presented some interesting ways that I hadn't considered before. The most useful thing I learned is that we can reorder the sentence and find the keyword and change it to synonyms. I was very impressed by Mr.Michael's style. He was confident, and engaging, and, kept the audience interested. Next, we had to edit some of our lines of inquiry, key concepts, and related concepts. It wasn't what I hoped for but it was just a minor mistake. We fixed it really quickly because we focused really well as we did before. We were satisfied with our work as we tried our best! We also went to Mantari school to vist their grade 5 exhibition. Their exhibition was intresting, engaging and fun. But some of the students' manners were not really great, they sat at the chair, eat and lazy unlike some of the students. Some of them were really kind and knowledgeable. Overall, I really enjoied this week and I am really excited about what interesting things we will do next week.

I enjoyed this week, I learnt about paraphrasing. I think we can prepare for the exhibition. The only thing we had to do was remove 1 key concept it was a very easy problem to solve and then that's all after it was solved. PYPX could happen this month and I think its going to be very exciting. Its already been quite long since this group was made, I think time has gone very fast since we had this group for only a few months and I hope that we can do more in the future because I don't think we are finished yet with our work. I think this will go well and I think I am gonna be happy with the results. We also got to visit Mentari International School Jakarta (MISJ) and we got to see their PYPX.
