1.In these films characters go through challenges that usually include violence, fighting, and chases. The strong hero struggles against villains in life-threatening situations. These films typically end in victory for the hero.
2.The heroes in such films usually find themselves in exotic locations. They are involved in exciting actions like looking for an unknown land or trying to save friends or get back home from an inhabitant island.
3.In such films the set is often distant planets or even parallel universes. They are about space travel, time travel, and supernatural. They are often based on books or scientific theories.
4.These films are about love and relationships. The characters often have to face some problems on the way to their happiness.

When we imagine Hollywood, we see in our mind a lot of film stars, such as Marylin Monroe, Gary Grant, James Dean and Clark Gable. Some of us remember about Michael and Circ Douglas and his son Michael. The comedy lovers can’t imagine Hollywood without Eddy Murphy and Woopie Goldberg. But Hollywood was not always famous. In the 19lh century it was a quiet place with a huge orange forest. And nobody could imagine that it would have a glorious future. In 1887 Harvey Wilcox bought a large ranch, situated on the north west of Los Angeles. His wife called it Hollywood which denoted “a sacred forest”. At the beginning of the 20"’ century the first cinemas were opened in the country. It happened in 1902-1904. And the cinematography becomes more and more popular. Why were the first film studios opened in Los Angeles? The climate or those places was unique, and it was extremely easy to make films in that region. So, the two brothers from New Jersey came to the region in 1911 and built a first film studio there. And next year a large group of film makers came there from the east coast of the USA. This year was marked as the year of birth of the film industry in the USA. At first Hollywood was purely American The exception from the rules was Charlie Chaplin. He was born in England and became famous as American actor and film director. He played a great role in the development of the American cinematography. The cinema goers admired his Charlie funny and clumsy, kind-hearted and generous. The films at those times were silent, and besides, black-and-white, but Chaplin was extremely popular. There were always long queues and many people wanted to see films with their favorite actor. The progress moved further on, and sound and color were introduced into films. And here Hollywood got its first place. The first sound and color film was ‘ Gonе With the Wind” - a screen version of the famous novel by Margaret Mitchell with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh. It was shot in 1939 and we appreciate it even now. From 1940s up to now Hollywood becomes more and more international. Here worked and lived some famous actors and actresses from almost all over the world. Maurice Chevalier from France, Marlene Dietrich from Germany, Sofia Loren from Italy lived and worked there. Nowadays there are a lot of actors from different countries in Hollywood. There are also a lot of Russian actors there.
