Dear parents,
I wanted to take a minute to elaborate on the Acceptable Use Policy I have written up for my classroom. This policy is in regards to classroom behavior, but mainly focuses on the uses of technology. As you know, the school assigned laptops and tablets to the students, but I wanted to let you now some of what is involved and expected from the students in this process.
The devices given to the students are only allowed to be used for school related subjects. Homework, research for a paper, writing an essay. All of those are allowed and encouraged! Personal research during free time should be done on a personal device, during time away from school, and on internet not belonging to the school.
We do this for the safety of other students as well as your own, and I would like to encourage you as the parents and/or guardians to keep a close eye on what your child does on their devices and to even make your own Acceptable Use Policy for your home.
I have created a template for you to create your own AUP if you choose to involve it in your schedules within your own home and/or time spent out of school. I believe it would be helpful for keeping track of mobile devices making sure technology I being used appropriately, and making sure no rules are broken.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your dedication to your child and this school!
