I have my classroom's Acceptable Use Policy included below. I ask that parents read over this and inform their children of the rules and standards we have in class! Thank you.
Acceptable Use Policy

· Computers
· Internet access

Usage policies
in this school, we understand not all students have access to technology such as tablets, computers, and the internet. It is our goal to make those available to all students as we realize they can be an asset to the students learning.
In return, we ask that you inform yourselves as the parents or guardian or your child of the rules we include inside of this policy
Acceptable uses

1.

2. appropriate topic research

Unacceptable uses

Daily schedule ideas
· Morning
Try to keep technology to a minimum. Focus on getting your child breakfast, brushing their teeth, and getting them dressed. Overall, just putting you and your student in the proper mindset for a day full of learning!
· Evening
After school, communication about the involvements of your child’s day is important. Find out if they have homework, and when it is due. Also ask about what happened, show interest about what they did today! I do not recommend letting them go straight to video games or whatever they want to do. After a meal and a conversation, I would make an agreement. Set a time limit for whatever activity they are excited to do and agree to allow them to start on that after they have completed a previously agreed upon checkpoint in their homework or whatever activity you are having them do. This practice will help create structure in the home and help set boundaries with the device you own. Education and good habits start at home, so it is important to start early!
· Night
Studies have shown that technology too close to bedtime can affect our sleeping patterns. I would recommend screen free time for at least an hour before trying to go to sleep. It is in the student’s best interest to have multiple screen breaks throughout the day, and to fill time with reading books, and facetime with friends and family. Getting enough sleep is vital to the mental and physical health of everyone, but especially young people who have brains that are still developing.
