Friday night, the team made our last visit of the season to Willow Metropark. The temperatures were about 15 degrees cooler than the last time we raced here. Many athletes took advantage of those cooler temperatures.
LT was the first Saline runner across the line. She ran a PR of 20:27.
Payton finished 5th on the team and 34th overall. Her time of 21:28 is a 20 second PR.
Lola Lange has had an amazing season. She has PR'd in every race and this one was no exception. She ran 23:23 to impress the college coach that came to watch her.
Catherine Kniffin excels in cross country and softball. She ran a PR on Friday of 23:41, a massive improvement of 1:01.
In her last trip around Willow, Bella and Coach Harrison had a plan. It worked as she ran a PR of 24:10, a 23 second best.
Lola has seen much improvement this season going from a first 5k time of 34:49 to a new PR at River Rat of 27:04. Wow!
Friday was a great day for athletes to get in some final work as we prepare for Jambo 3 on Thursday. We see athletes rounding into top shape and getting ready for the final race of the season for much of the team. If the forecast holds, it should be a beautiful day at Hudson Mills on Thursday!
On the way back to our camp from the finish line, Coach Stafford and I had the pleasure of introducing the team to Coach Bill Stewart. Coach Stewart coached the two of us a "few" years ago. Many of the workouts Saline athletes do today are very similar to the workouts we ran with Bill. It was a great honor to introduce him to everyone.
