Reading:

You will not have any of the 文本 at the time of writing, but you can bring a single sheet of paper with your own hand-copied sentences from the 文本, on one side only. The goal of making this "cheat sheet" is to promote learning through practicing reading, understanding, and thinking about the sentences in the texts you intend to use in your writing. Your single sheet of paper cannot have anything other than direct quotes from the main 文本 listed above. Pinyin can be included.

Listening:

Transcribe into standard Mandarin pinyin (15pts) with tone marks (5pts) and general meaning in English (10pts) for all assigned sections (see document). You should watch the explainer videos at the top of the document, linked above, as well as read through the pinyin by pasting the text into Google Translate, where you can also hear a different voice read to train your ears for this text.
Reading:

explain all text info in the images for 4 minutes,
then discuss for 5 minutes (answer and expand on teacher's questions), and
then discuss the same texts and images on a different DP theme for 6 minutes.

Choose one question from Unit 2 or 3 -- see above on this page or the Unit 2 page. Give a spoken presentation that uses information from all but one of the texts above to answer the unit question. Include:
a conventional opening, transitions, and closing following this speech notes format
your unit question on the first slide, only in Chinese characters and English
pictures from all but one of the articles (you choose) to talk about
additional pictures that represent the information in the articles you chose to also talk about
minimal text on the slides
Listening, following presentation: ( /24pts Criterion A + B2 + C, 25% of final exam grade)
The teacher will ask a series of questions about the texts you just presented. The questions will probe through the information you presented on AND other information in those texts. This listening segment is intended to:
check that you really read and understood the information throughout the texts you chose to present
check if you can understand the questions asked
check if you can give relevant answers to the questions asked

Draw a sketch to show accurate understanding of the meaning of each underlined phrase you chose, and write a number to indicate which phrase you chose from the reading (the numbers need to match).
