Day 1

Listening:

( /20分 fēn "points"): For the 《暴雨2》 video, create handwritten subtitles, to include: 

• pinyin with tones (12分), and 

• English (8分)--stay as close as possible to the original Chinese words, but should be "good English."

Reading: 

( /20分): For the ("help write a",↯3) text, write a video script, to include: 

• pinyin with tones (12分), and 

• English (8分)--stay as close as possible to the original Chinese words, but should be "good English."

Day 2

Writing: 

( /20分 fēn "points", scored on criteria A, B, C, format: email/电邮 here, body = 115|236 多字 zì "characters")

     Choose one unit question above. Answer your unit question using information from all 文本 listed above. 

You will not have any of the 文本 at the time of writing, but you can bring a single sheet of paper with your own hand-copied sentences from the 文本, on one side only. Your single sheet of paper cannot have anything other than direct quotes from the main 文本 listed above. The goal of making this "cheat sheet" is to promote learning through practicing reading, understanding, and thinking about the sentences in the texts you intend to use in your writing.

Listening:

Reading: 

( /30分): For pre-selected sections in the ("help write a",↯3) and ("A neighborhood emergency",↯1) texts:

• underline specific answers (word or short phrase) to Chinese questions provided (15分), and

• write the pinyin with tone marks and meaning in English (15分).

(if time allows, prep for writing and speaking)

Day 2

Choose any TOK question (in Unit Resources, above). Answer your TOK question using information from all 文本 listed above.

Lunch mock IA time (sign up on Classroom > Resources > Mandarin Calendar > Office Hours Doc)

( /30, scored on criteria A, B1, B2, C): Bring a printout containing pictures from all assigned texts for this summative. To practice for the IA individual oral exam (final exam week, Fall 2025): 

1. 1. explain all text info in the images for 4 minutes, 

   2. then discuss for 5 minutes (answer and expand on teacher's questions), and 

   3. then discuss the same texts and images on a different DP theme for 6 minutes.

Day 1

Listening:

( /20分 fēn "points"): For 3 lines in the text, (“help create a”,↯1), listen to questions in Mandarin, then:

• underline specific answers (word or short phrase) to Chinese questions provided (5分), and

• write the pinyin with tone marks and meaning in English (15分) for only the parts you underlined.

Reading: 

( /20分): On a calendar you chose from 《假期与节日x1》, random phrases will be underlined:

• write the pinyin with tone marks and meaning in English just for the underlined phrases.

Day 2

Writing: 

( /20分 fēn "points", scored on criteria A, B, C, format: letter of thanks here, body = 135|270 多字 zì "characters")

Choose one unit question above. Answer your unit question using information from all 文本 listed above.

Reading:

( /15分 fēn "points"): Choose 6 full lines of text in (“help create a”,↯1), then:

• draw a building blueprint illustrating the spaces and activities in the text

• copy the labels onto your blueprint with characters and pinyin (no English)

( /15分): On the calendar you chose from 《假期与节日x1》, choose 5 holidays:

• underline keywords and phrases, 2+ per holiday

• write pinyin with tone marks for the parts your underlined

• connect a line to each of your keywords and phrases and draw pictures to illustrate meaning

Day 2
