Warm up:

• Students will fill out a KWL Chart to start (at least 2 points they would like to learn) (5 minutes)

• They will write a short poem about their weekend (any style of poem) (5 minutes)

Mini- Lesson (2 voice poem):

• Read a two-voice poem (2 minutes)

• Create a Venn diagram on Ms. Natalie and Miss Austin (5 minutes)

• Create a two-voice poem from Venn diagram (as a group) (10 minutes)

• Read two voice poems (2 minutes)

• Any questions? (2 minutes)

Lesson:

• Fill out graphic organizers individually (10 minutes)

• Discuss as a group and add any new ideas (5 minutes)

• Rough draft of poem individually (20-30 minutes)

• Revise poem (15 minutes)

• Final draft (25 minutes)

*go to computer lab if done early to have them type it up*

Go back to KWL Chart and fill in what they learned along with answering the middle column of what they wanted to know.
